About the author

Katie Bender is a Palliative Care nurse practitioner. She graduated from the University of Scranton in 2009 and split her time between hospice, palliative, and oncology before becoming a nurse practitioner in 2021. It has been a long-standing dream of Katie’s to compile the many patient stories she has had the privilege of being a part of into a novel that could reach beyond healthcare professionals.

Katie lives in Brick, New Jersey, where she and her husband, Micah, are raising their two children, Mackenzie and Kellan. Her favorite pastimes are vacationing and spending time with friends and family. She is also a fierce animal lover and proud mother to three babies: Maggie, King, and Shadow.
